The Link between Emotions
If you're a health practitioner I'd like to welcome you to my site. I'm very excited about the possibility of helping your clients address their unresolved emotional challenges so you can help them enjoy better physical health.
More and more people believe our emotional well-being is directly linked to our physical health. Through my personal experience and my experience working with others, I wholeheartedly agree. Whether we are happy or sad, our bodies respond physically to the way we think, feel and act. Our emotions have the capacity to harm and heal; not only psychologically but physically too.
One study that I found very interesting and supports the emotional/physical health link is a study conducted by Psychological Science and published in a journal of the Association of Psychological Science. They determined "... positive emotions, positive social connections, and physical health influence one another in a self-sustaining upward-spiral dynamic."
The participants of the study were asked to practice loving-kindness meditation because, they write, “it teaches individuals how to cultivate feelings of love, compassion, and goodwill toward themselves and others.” Through the practice of cultivating positive emotions, they noticed that participant's emotional well-being had improved which positively impacted their social interactions resulting in better Vagal Tone (Vagal Tone has been linked to cardiovascular health which they deemed as an legitimate way to measure good overall health).
The link between emotional health and physical well-being appears to be more recognized and legitimized as time goes on.
How can I Help?
Using my knowledge about each person's individual Cycle of Emotional Pain, I help my clients connect the dots between their unresolved emotional pain from the past and the problems they currently face and give them practical and practice-able tools that bring resolution to their emotional pain. Reconciling their issues from the past and helping them develop positive and healthy emotional awareness puts them in a much better position to understand and address their physical challenges ~ including physical health challenges.
It is not uncommon for my clients to go from being completely disconnected from their emotions to being able to identify, validate and express their emotions ~ they even learn to cultivate and feel positive emotions at will. For people interested in taking an holistic approach to health, my approach offers a very effective solution to the emotional component of healing.
